Austin Museum Day

The 2017 Austin Museum Day event on Sunday September 17 at the Texas Music Museum (TMM) was very well attended throughout the day.

The many visitors who signed our guest log during the event identified place of residence.  Many live in Austin and the surrounding areas of Cedar Park, Kyle, Leander, Round Rock, Lakeway and Pflugerville; some from other parts of Texas, including Houston, Katy, Lake Jackson, San Antonio, San Marcos, and Tomball. Others live in California, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island and Virginia. TMM regularily attracts visitors from other states, in addition to local area and other Texans.

Board members and volunteers enjoyed showing guest around the exhibits, and telling them about the museum’s purpose and history, and answering many questions about artists and exhibits.

Stone Soup provided entertainment by playing various styles and genres of traditional folk music.  This informal group played traditional songs from several ethnic heritages.

Visitors made positive comments about the interesting and entertaining Stone Soup performances, the exhibits, the work of the Museum, and the friendly, informative interaction with board members and volunteers.  One visitor expressed an interest in becoming a volunteer!  The Texas Music Museum enjoyed a very successful 2017 Austin Museum Day!
